Living in Cudahy

The Cudahy Lifestyle

 A city with hometown values

thofjulysmallercopySince its founding in the late 1800's by businessman and namesake Patrick Cudahy, our city has been known for its strong business partnerships.  But we're not all work and no play. There are a number of good reasons that 18,000 residents choose to make Cudahy their home base for shopping, dining and exploring. Here are just a few.

1. Plenty of Parks. Cudahy has six county parks and 823 acres of parkland. Warnimont Golf, an 18 hole executive, par-54 municipal course, is the perfect place to spend an afternoon on the links. The city's lakefront park, featuring a popular hike/bike trail, was created on acreage given by Patrick Cudahy to Milwaukee County.

2. Farm Freshness. Cudahy residents have the opportunity to enjoy a farmers market again in 2015.  The Cudahy Farmers Market will be open each Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the city owned parking lot at 3500 Library Drive. Visit the Cudahy Farmers Market website for detailed information. A second market will be open Tuesdays & Thursdays 9am-4pm from July 8 through October 30 in front of City Hall.

3. Our Grand Finale. Every July 4th Cudahy gears up for an Independence Day celebration in a grand style. It starts with a parade featuring over 100 units, leading to a day of park festivities and culminating in a brilliant fireworks display over Lake Michigan at the Sheridan Park shoreline.

4. Community Involvement.  Cudahy hosts many other free, family-friendly events. In partnership with various community organizations, as well as city celebrations, we offer family movie nights in June, the South Shore Cyclery Classic professional bicycle race, Hometown Holiday Celebration and more! Past private sponsored events have included the USA Triathlon, Patrick Cudahy Race for the Bacon, Cudahy Lion’s Club Sweet Applewood Days, Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life Bike Race and a whole lot more.  Municipal sponsored events include CPD’s National Night Out, Cudahy Family Library Harvest Tasting Event, and other hometown holiday celebrations.  Details can be found in the news section.
