Cudahy, where you've got it made.
With a century-long tradition of manufacturing prowess – producing everything from top-notch aerospace components, motors and compressors to world-famous ham and bacon – Cudahy is known as a city where exceptional products are made, and where our residents have it made.
With affordable homes, beautiful parks, unique ethnic restaurants and great schools among other amenities, Cudahy is the perfect place for families to put down roots. It's also the perfect place for business development, thanks to programs that feature creative incentives and solutions for new and existing businesses.
Give yourself a little extra time to look around the next time you're downtown. Nearly two dozen façade improvement projects are completed, underway or scheduled to begin in the spring. Congratulations to all of the property owners who are contributing to the revitalization of Cudahy's historic business district!
A very mild entrance of 2012 promises a positive start for the City of Cudahy. The Hometown Holiday hosted by the Cudahy Family Library, Cudahy Lions and Cudahy Chamber of Commerce helped usher out 2011 with attendance of over 150 citizens for the festivities throughout the day. The Packard Avenue construction stopped for the winter months in late November. The final stages of the construction will begin in Spring around March weather permitting. This large scale renovation of our sanitary sewer and storm water laterals has inconvenienced our Downtown traffic and merchants but replaces an old system that needed repair.
The old Iceport site was remediated this summer and has taken on a more appealing look with the finished landscaping. This large parcel of land is now available for development and has drawn interest from several parties. Historic Downtown Cudahy’s façade program has helped several businesses with improving their buildings. The total now comes to fifteen businesses that improved their building fronts. Affordable Heating is near completion of their renovation of the old Kohl’s building and has done an outstanding job of beautifying an unappealing corner property. Take a drive around Cudahy and see how a simple face lifting project stimulated other businesses and properties to take pride in their buildings.
The Celebrations Committee is hard at work planning the 2012 events for summer and fall. Watch for highlights posted on the City of Cudahy’s website and Facebook pages. Follow us on Facebook so you can stay informed and up to date. Remember that all of these community events are planned by the Celebrations Committee. Please consider lending your time and talents to this group of hard-working volunteers.
Get out and get involved!
